Description: This canon appears in a collection of broadsheets now held at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in Munich under the shelfmark 2 Mus.pr. 156. The page, printed by Salminger probably in the late 1540s, bears a dedication to the dowager queen Mary of Hungary and Bohemia, governor of the Netherlands, whom Pathie served as organist. It contains 3 canons, of which this is the second and, owing to part of the page having been torn off, it is incomplete; luckily, a complete source of the piece exists in a later publication printed by Gerlach in Nuremberg. The music for two of the voices is printed; the other two follow in canon. The canon may be resolved in two ways, either with the lower two parts preceding the upper two, or with all parts inverted and the upper two parts leading. The two resolutions are indicated on another broadsheet in the same collection.
