Biography
French Calvinist minister, theologian, historian, and poet. In addition to a distinguished career as a significant figure in the Protestant Reformation, during which, among other achievements, he succeeded Theodore de Bèze as President of the Council of Company of Pastors in Geneva, Goulart published a series of musical anthologies in which he substituted sacred contrafact lyrics, often of his own authorship, for the lyrics of popular songs.
