It is probably worth mentioning somewhere on this page that this setting of "Ave Maria" is not by Arcadelt. It is an arrangement by Louis Dietsch (1808-1865) of Arcadelt's "nous voyons que les hommes", written for female voices. The bass part in particular is entirely Dietsch's work —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jgoodliffe (talkcontribs) on 12:32, 5 November 2006.

Duly noted, thank you Jonathan. --Bobnotts talk 14:45, 30 November 2007 (PST)
Shouldn't this page be renamed to "Ave Maria (Louis Dietsch)" then? Arcadelt didn't compose it as an Ave Maria, and since both text and music are, strictly speaking, different from the original composition, his name shouldn't appear as the composer. Or perhaps a compromise title, as has been done to the Ave Maria (Bach-Gounod) setting, and rename this one to "Ave Maria (Arcadelt-Dietsch)". —Carlos [[[:Template:Carlos]] Email.gif] 07:18, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
