If he was born Sponga or Spongia, should we change this to the name he was born under? Is this similar to listing Jacob Handl that way instead of under his Latinate name Gallus?

When in doubt we usually follow the Grove Dictionary first and Wikipedia secondly, and in this case both list him under "Francesco Usper", possibly because that was the name with which his music was associated. The Biographisch Quellen-Lexikon (1900-04) lists him under "Francesco Spongia Usper". In the case of Jacob Handl, we are following the Grove and the Biographisch Quellen-Lexikon (but not Wikipedia). —Carlos Email.gif 04:45, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
