  • (Posted 2024-01-01)  CPDL #78557:
Extracted parts: Strings  , Flutes  , Vocal score
Editor: Edmund Gooch (submitted 2024-01-01).   Score information: A4, 7 pages, 137 kB   Copyright: Public Domain
Edition notes: The order of parts is given in the source at the start of the piece as Vio: 1st - Vio: 2d - Flute 1st - Flute 2d - Viola - Bass [instrumental] - Treble - Counter Tenor - Tenor - Bass [vocal] - Organ or P. Forte. The concluding symphony (bar 60 onwards) is printed in a condensed score, with the two flute parts on a single stave and the instrumental bass part omitted.
In this edition, the instrumental bass part is given as the violoncello part (although it could be played by a bassoon or other bass instrument). For the concluding symphony, this part has been taken from the left hand of the organ or pianoforte part.
The countertenor and tenor parts are printed in the source in the treble clef, an octave above sounding pitch.
The rhythm of the Flute 2 part in bar 21, given here as a dotted crotchet followed by a quaver, is printed in the source as two crotchets.
In bar 66 of the organ or pianoforte part, the trill is printed in the source over beat 1, rather than beat 2 as given here: this has been emended with reference to the other parts and bar 23.
Slurs in the following locations have been added editorially, in accordance with the slurring of pairs of quavers seen elsewhere in this setting: bar 43, Flute 2; bar 45, Flute 2, Violin 1, Viola and Violoncello; bar 46, Violoncello; bar 47, Flute I, Viola and Violoncello.
Only the text of the first verse is underlaid in the source: the texts of the other verses given here are printed after the music for this setting, on p19, and have been underlaid editorially here.
