Description: A folk hymn (Lowens 1964, Music 2005). First published in Wyeth's Repository, Part Second, 1813, as The Transport. Arranged by Ananias Davisson in Supplement to the Kentucky Harmony, 1820. It also appears in Moore's Columbian Harmony, 1825, Southern Harmony, 1835, and (as New Canaan) in a different arrangement by William Hauser in The Hesperian Harp, 1848. Words by John Granade, 1804, with six stanzas.
