== Spanish translations ==

Hi Saniakob, welcome to CPDL and thank you for your interest in translating pages to Spanish. As you noted, some of the pages are already prepared to receive new translations in a quite straightforward manner, as the [[Main Page]] and the [[CW:Multi-Category Search|Multi-Category Search]]. If you intend to start right away, I can create the basic pages and list them here for you. I'm aware that Argentinians speak a slightly different version of Castilian (yo soy brasileño, jeje), do you think you could use "standard" Castilian instead? This way it would be understood by a much wider audience. Thanks again! —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] [{{carlos}} {{mail}}] 10:44, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
:Yes! in fact I cooperated with translations in other sites so I am used to it... =)
:Only give me some guidance on how things should be done (I mean for editing and all that stuff) I caught up with the editing system but I think that perhaps there are somethings I might not know and I don't want to screw things up...[[User:Saniakob|Saniakob]] 23:26, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Then you already have some experience, that's great! Here are the links to the pages I cited above, followed by a short description of what to do in each one. Note that the Main Page also displays the content of smaller pages, listed below it:
'''Main Page:'''
*[[Main Page/es]] - traslate all numbered texts and the text inside the <nowiki>{{DISPLAYTITLE:...}}</nowiki> keyword
*[[CW:CPDL statistics/es]] - initial help text and numbered texts
*[[CW:LatestNews/es]] - just numbered texts
*[[CW:LatestScores/es]] - just numbered texts
*[[CW:Other languages/es]] - translate just the first text and leave the languages as they are, or translate all to Dutch, at will.
'''Multi-Category Search:'''
*[[CW:Multi-Category Search/es]] - traslate all numbered texts and the text inside the <nowiki>{{DISPLAYTITLE:...}}</nowiki> keyword
Again, thanks a lot! —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] [{{carlos}} {{mail}}] 01:38, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
:Wow, you worked really fast and perfectly, great job! When you have the time, you may also do the same with the Multi-Category Search (the link to it is in your talk page too :)
:So, you are a Tenor, too? That's nice! It's funny that, probably because of your username (Sania?), I was thinking that you were a girl, lol.
:"Everything that goes until the Baroque" is probably a perfect definition for my musical tastes too! But I also like a couple of 20th century composers a lot (different styles ranging from Philip Glass to Astor Piazzolla :)
:Gracias por todo! —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] [{{carlos}} {{mail}}] 06:54, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
::Qué malo, I forgot to mention about the help text in the Multi-Category Search. Yes, it should also be translated, please. With relation to your username, I should have noticed the resemblance with San Jakob ;) —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] [{{carlos}} {{mail}}] 01:46, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
== Bach cantatas ==
Hi,
It's exciting to have someone leading a JSB project!
I see you made [[Cantata BWV 7 - Christ unser Herr zum Jordan kam (Johann Sebastian Bach)]] into a redirect to [[Das Aug' allein das Wasser sieht, BWV 7, Nº 7 (Johann Sebastian Bach)]]. If someone wants to add another movement or the complete cantata they will have to recreate this page: dont you think it would be better to keep cantata pieces together on one page, as once suggested at [[Talk:Johann Sebastian Bach]]? [[User:Richard Mix|Richard Mix]] 05:59, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
:Hi Richard, you are right...the reasons why I did that is because of organizational purposes...The page is still "under construction"...there are many things to fix...So for the moment I am ordering editions...and creating sections (like Cantatas, Chorales so on) to put things in order...once all editions are ordered I will work on each section....So far, the cantatas which have a page including all pieces are those which are complete...Cantatas which have only some pieces in CPDL are given as titles with the corresponding editions listed below...I pretend to change that in the future, but for now that is the criterion...Thanks for the suggestion and comment!![[User:Saniakob|Saniakob]] 13:00, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Hope it's alright to copy your note to this page! I've changed [[Cantata BWV 7 - Christ unser Herr zum Jordan kam (Johann Sebastian Bach)]] back to a main page and copied the chorale link (Why are English and Dutch listed as languages though?) It would be good to be able to discuss plans on one page: do you think [[Talk:Johann Sebastian Bach]] [[talk:Category:Johann Sebastian Bach compositions]] or [[Talk:Johann Sebastian Bach - list of cantatas]] or even a new Bach project page would be best? What I am suggesting is that you explain the lines you intend to reorganize along, so they can be discussed (in the [[Talk:Johann Sebastian Bach#Merging of translated titles|previous discussion]] Carlos & Bobnotts seemed to agree that individual movements should be merged on the cantata page) and so that we can collaborate in dividing the work. When you say "once all editions are ordered I will work on each section" I get a bit nervous about how long the 200 Bach works will be a construction site! As to bwv 7, there are complete editions offsite, which I linked in the "general information". With the latest move of the page to [[Cantata BWV 7, Nº 1 - Christ unser Herr zum Jordan kam (Johann Sebastian Bach)]] there is possible confusion over whether these are only the first movement, and the instruments listed are for the whole cantata, not the first movement which only uses one violino concertante.[[User:Richard Mix|Richard Mix]] 19:28, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

|text=
There has been quite a bit of confusion as to what is the proper thing to do with Bach cantatas. I have just made the changes necessary to put both the two movements from BWV 7 onto one standard page: [[Cantata BWV 7 - Christ unser Herr zum Jordan kam (Johann Sebastian Bach)]]. It was long ago felt and decided that each Cantata should have its own page and that movements from cantatas should be merged onto their respective cantata pages, ''even when a complete score for the cantata is not yet available at {{CW}}''.
In doing the necessary work, notice that I '''moved''' the oldest page (movement 7 of BWV 7) to the Cantata page and '''copied''' the relevent information from the newer page (movement 1 of BWV 7), to preserve the oldest page history with the move. Then I updated the listing on [[Johann Sebastian Bach]] to reflect the merge (which also fixes the link). I did not update the link from the old Movement 7 page, because of the discussion here, before deleting the Movement 7 page.
}}
Point taken about the page history; I didnt want to interfere with Das Aug' allein das Wasser sieht before hearing back. [[User:Richard Mix|Richard Mix]] 21:28, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
