Wär Gott nicht mit uns diese Zeit
General information
Source of text is Martin Luther’s paraphrase of Psalm 124. It was first published in Walters Geystliche Gesangk Buchleyn (1524). In later editions it was replaced by Wo Gott der Herr nicht bei uns hält, another versification of psalm 124, published in the same year by Justus Jonas. In todays hymnbooks a combination of both texts is used.
