Description: This name day song was sung at midnight or early in the morning ("Namenstag-Ansingen"). In the lyrics, the patron saint is requested to ask God for forgiveness of our sins.
There is a vocal setting by Franz Xaver Bronner that was printed in the magazine "Bayerland" in 1891. The version better known today, which differs only slightly, was written down by Prof. Kurt Huber in Mittenwald in 1926.
