Biography
William Perry was christened in St Mary’s Church, Kidderminster, on 5 June 1765, the son of William Perry and his wife Jane (née Allen). He married Maria Ann Groves at St Mary's, Warwick on 7 July 1794, and established himself as a printer and bookseller in Warwick: John Fairfax, later an important early Australian newspaper proprietor, was apprenticed to him in 1817.

William and Maria's son William Groves Perry was born in 1796, and became a music seller and teacher in Warwick and a prominent amateur botanist.

A collection of Original Sacred Melodies, containing five set-pieces (through-composed settings of metrical texts) and 53 hymn tunes, was published in the 1820s. The Catalogue of Printed Music in the British Musuem dates the work to [c1820?], but an advertisement in the Warwick Advertiser on 31 October 1829 stated 'The last number of this work is in the hands of the engraver'. The title page of the work confirms that it was issued in parts, noting 'PRICE OF THE COMPLETE WORK, TWELVE SHILLINGS; SEPARATE NUMBERS, TWO SHILLINGS EACH'. The title page describes the music as 'by W. Perry, arranged for four voices, with a separate accompaniment for the Organ or Piano-Forte by W. G. Perry'.

William Perry died on 2 June 1843 and was buried at the Brook Street Chapel in Warwick on 6 June: William Groves Perry died on 25 March 1863, and an obituary in the Warwick Gazette identifies him as the organist of Brook Street Chapel.
