Biography

Wytze Oostenbrug (1943) studied biophysics in Groningen. During his student days he experimented with composing and immersed himself in ear training and harmony. Since then he has been a member of various choirs.

  • From 2001 to 2010 he was conductor of the Delft chamber choir Via Cantare. During that period he took the Kurt Thomas course for choral conducting in Utrecht several times. For this choir he made several choral arrangements of Dutch and Italian folk melodies.
  • A broader theoretical basis was obtained by attending the Schumann Akademie (theoretical subjects of the Conservatory). He successfully completed it in July 2012. As a composer, however, he remained self-taught. For some time he was coached by composer and arranger Max Knigge.
  • From 2008, the first serious works were created, such as the Ave Maria and the Alma Redemptoris Mater. In addition to choral works, instrumental pieces were also created.

The composer would appriciate being informed about any performances of his work (see Contact in external link below).
