R.: Your bridal chamber I see adorned, O my Savior,
but I have no wedding garment I may enter.
O Giver of light, enlighten the vestures of my soul, and save me.

The Lord, who loves humankind,
who created the lakes, the rivers and the seas,
gave us a special commandment of love
when He wrapped a towel around His waste
and washed the feet of his disciples.
R.

In your goodness You humbled Yourself, O Christ,
washing the feet of your glorious apostles.
Peter would not allow this, not seeing God’s plan.
When You revealed it, he obeyed, and was washed.
