Editor: Pothárn Imre (submitted 2026-01-05).   Score information: A4, 5 pages, 102 kB   Copyright: CPDL
Edition notes: Transcribed from 1581 print. Original key (chiavi naturali, except for Basso) and note values. Although the original print does not label Gran rissa ho seco as Seconda parte, there can be no doubt that it belongs to Amor chi m'assicura. It starts on the same page, has the same unusual cleffing (C1, C2, C3, C4, F3), Amor chi m'assicura is very short (23 measures), and ends on the dominant, which occurs only with the Prima parte of madrigals.

A mor chi m'assicura,
contra costei ch'armato esser mi vaglia,
se'l tuo fier colpo ogni lorica smaglia.

Gran rissa ho seco e son sfidato al campo,
dove io gir temo, e del tardar mi rodo,
la contesa è per te tu meco movi
ch'ella ti biasma e spezza,
io sti mo e lodo tua gloria fia
s'io ne ho vittoria e scampo,
se te mi l'ire sue d'alto in lei piovi
famma esca e strali novi
pungila prima tuch'ella m'assaglia,
poi lieto ne morrò seco in battaglia
