Esperanto text La frosto falis en printempnokt'. Ĝi falis sur bluajn floretojn: La floroj forvelkis, sekiĝis. Junulo amis knabinon. Forkurirs sekrete de hejme la du: Ne sciis patrino nek patro. Vagadis ili tra la mond', Nek trovis feliĉon nek stelon: Pereis ili, formortis. Floretoj bluaj sur la tomb' Brakumas sin kiel la du en la tomb': Ne ilin la frosto velkigas.

English translation The frost came down at night in springtime. It fell on blue little flowers: The flowers withered, dried up. A lad loved a girl. The two secretely ran away from home: The mother didn't know, nor the father. They wandered around the world, Neither found luck nor star: They perished, passed away. Little blue flowers on the grave Caress each other like the two in the grave: The frost cannot make them wither.

German text Es fiel ein Reif in der Frühlingsnacht. Er fiel auf die zarten Blaublümelein: Sie sind verwelket, verdorret. Ein Knabe hatte ein Mägdlein lieb. Sie liefen heimlich von Hause fort: Es wussten nicht Vater noch Mutter. Sie sind gewandert wohl hin und her. Sie hatten nirgends Glück noch Stern: Sie sind verdorben, gestorben. Auf ihrem Grabe Blaublümlein stehn, Umschlingen sich zart wie sie im Grab: Der Reif sie nicht welket, nicht dorret.
