French text Modern French: Nous ne nions ni le voulons prétendre que le feu d’amour ne soit nourri au cœur et ne pouvons entendre que de lui seul ne s’il ne veut devons discourir. Mais le voyant en ce grand mal pouvoir n’osant la bouche lui rendre son office nous avançons, pour le voir mourir, et nous aussi de l’oser entreprendre.

Dutch translation Wij ontkennen het niet, wij willen dat ook niet beweren dat het liefdesvuur in het hart wordt gevoed en wij het alleen van hem kunnen verwachten, en, als hij dat wil, het moeten onthullen. Maar als het (hart) zichtbaar moeite heeft, als de mond hem geen dienst durft te bewijzen, naderen wij, om het te zien doven, en dan durven we het aan te vallen.

English translation We neither deny nor want to claim that the fire of love is fed in the heart and we can only expect it from him, and, if he wants to, must reveal it. But if the (heart) is visibly struggling, if the mouth dares not serve him, we approach to see it go out, and then we dare to attack it.
