Words by Maria Theresa Stonehouse, before 1742, My Jesus, look on me thy child, in nine stanzas. Milgrove used the third stanza in his composition; in some hymn compilations (e. g., Whitefield 1777) appears the hymn Take my poor heart just as it is, comprising the third, seventh, eighth, and ninth stanzas of Stonehouse's hymn.
