Hi Toobaz,

I rolled back your composer category name changes for La Rue and Josquin. By your criterion, we would have to change (for some examples):

 • to
 • to
 • to

The point of the option is to get the composers listed in the proper alphabetical order on the Category:Composers page - usually by accepted surname, but with some exceptions:

The most important exception musically is that of Josquin, by which the composer Josquin des Prez is universally known. Hence, we follow this universal (not just English) precedent by having Josquin alphabetized under "Josquin des Prez" rather than under "des Prez, Josquin" on the Category:Composers pages. This is entirely analogous to alphabetizing "Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni" under his full name (or simply under "Michelangelo") instead of "di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, Michelangelo" or "Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, Michelangelo di" on a Category:Renaissance artists page.

Hopefully this will explain the philosophy and decisions that we try to adhere to at CPDL.

Cheers!

adding new scores...

I see you added your edition of a second Ave Maria a 4 by Josquin, simply by copying from the original Ave Maria a 4 page ... but this caused some problems which I have tried to fix. Your method failed to get a new CPDL # for your edition (the number that you used was for my edition of the more familiar setting), and it also didn't make use of the NewWork template.

In the future, if you wish to add a new edition/work, you should go to the ChoralWiki:Add Music page and follow the directions there - this automates the process to some extent, including invoking the NewWork template to get a new CPDL number, and you just have to copy the required information onto the (new) work page and also on the Composer page (to get it listed there and linked, too). Hopefully tomorrow I will fill out a New edition/work form and get a valid CPDL number for you (much appreciated edition) ... right now I have just listed the CPDL # as 12xxx.

Best wishes,
