Description: Transcribed from the Trent manuscript tr89. The time signatures, notes' values, and colourings are as in the manuscript. All the three voices have the St. John's hymn text incipit only; the 1st verse of the St. Vigilius', the patron saint of Trent, hymn has been added to the Superius and the 3rd, 5th and 7th verses are written at the top of the page. The text underlay within brackets is editorial. The notes' values within the "ligaturæ" are as follows: the left upstemmed notes are semibreves - the unstemmed notes are breves – the right downstemmed notes are longæ. The “musica ficta” suggestions are in the MIDI and MusicXML files.

Latin text
HYMNUS SANCTO VIGILIO
Gaudio summo celebrare festa
Tribue nobis, martyr o beate,
Quæ tu sacrasti meritis beatis,
Sancte Vigili.
Te, pater, terra edidit Romana,
Cujus præclara jam fulgebant acta,
Dura puerilis hauriebat ætas
Teneros annos.
Literis sacris animus divinis
Inhærens semper, exsul adventabas
Urbem antiquam: studiis præclaram,
Atheniensem.
Inde ad terram rediens paternam
Ornabas sancta disciplina vitam
Quam in multorum spiritalis vitæ
Spargebas usus.
Cujus doctrina hæc gens primum docta,
meruit talem habere pastorem,
Per quem multorum signa declarantur
miraculorum.
Surdis auditum, cæcis præstat visum,
Debiles sanat dæmonesque fugat
Et peccatorum veniam petentes
Audit benignus.
Hunc hæc plebs cuncta voce laudans alta,
Supplex precetur veniam delictis,
Ut prosit nobis ejus interventus
Nunc et in ævum.
Præstet hoc nobis deitatis auctor,
Pater æternus, trinus atque unus,
Regnans ubique totus sine fine
Perpetim.
Amen.
