Voi mi ponest' in foco,
per farmi anti'l mio di donna perire,
et perché questo mal
vi parea poco co'l pianto
raddoppiasti'l mio languire,
Hor io vivo ben dire,
levate l'un martire,
che di due morte non posso morire.

English translation

You have set me afire,
To make me perish before my time, Lady;
And since this injury seems so little to you,
With weeping you doubled my anguish.
Now to you I will say
Lift one torment,
As from two deaths I cannot die.
