Gaddo io men vo lontan dai patri i liti,
et da voi mio sostegno et mio consiglio,
sol perche in questo mio gravoso e siglio,
non sia che mi consoli chi m'aiti.
Dhe come hoggi sia noi da noi repiti,
io forse a morte et voi certo a periglio
vi move a far vermiglio,
sour' al Tebro cui gente peggior,
d'antropofagi et sciti,
ma poscia ch'el destin si fugge indarno,
ciascun soffrisca dovunqu'è sia,
Fortuna, o bona o rea ch'ella si mostri.
