Away to the woods, away,
We hie away with hearts so gay,
To sylvan dell we love so well,
We hie, we hie away,
By purling brook in shady nook,
We rest in leafy bower.
The sunbeams glint through the waving leaves of the trees,
Like fairies flitting o’er the scene,
Borne on the sun-kissed breeze,
We sit enchanted by the scene,
Our hearts are all aglow.
We join in song the forest throng,
With music sweet and low.
Away to the woods, away
We hie away with hearts so gay,
With elf and goblin, gnome and fay,
We roam o’er hill and dell,
By purling brook, in shady nook,
O’er hill and dale and fell,
With joyful song we join the throng of happy hearts aglow,
And swell the forest symphony of creatures here below.
