Description: A set piece, first appearing in The Waterhouse Manuscript, copied May 30, 1780 by Susanna Heath, otherwise unknown. Not in The Hymn Tune Index. Crawford and McKay (1974) say the composer is Anonymous. The melody (Tenor) in the 3:2 section probably derives from a Folk hymn; harmonization and expansion in the cut-time section has been composed.
Words by Elizabeth Rowe ca. 1717, one stanza only, based on portions of The Song of Solomon.

Stay, my beloved with me here,
Stay till the morning star appear:
Stay till the dusky shadows fly
Before the day’s illustrious eye.
