Crawford and McKay (1974) say the composer is Anonymous. The melody (Tenor) in the 3:2 section probably derives from a Folk hymn; harmonization and expansion in the cut-time section has been composed. Stay, my beloved with me here,
Stay till the morning star appear:
Stay till the dusky shadows fly
Before the day’s illustrious eye.
