Blows the wind merrily over the sea,
Chasing and racing the waves in its glee,
Tossing the spray of the silvery foam,
Helping our good ship on its course home.

Blow, merry winds, blow!
We’ll soon see the friends we left long ago.

Blows the wind merrily, spreading the sails,
Greeting and meeting the whispering gales,
Striking our ship in a frolicksome freak,
Dipping her low till the stout timber creak.

Blows the wind merrily, wave upon wave,
Dashing and splashing; the ocean may rave—
Voice of the waters, thy songs, ever free,
When homeward I’m bound are dearest to me.
