French text Original text Fille qui prend facieulx mary Ceste dict alix a colette, Aura tousiours le ceur mary & vauldroit mieulx dormir seulette Il est vray dict sa seur doulcette Mais contr'ung facieulx endormy La vray & certaine recepte Ce seroit de fair'ung amy.

French text (modernized) "Fille qui prend fâcheux mari", Cette dit Alix à Colette, "Aura toujours le coeur marri, Et voudrait mieux dormir seulette". "Il est vrai", dit sa soeur doucette, "Mais contr'un fâcheux endormi La vrai et certaine recette Ce serait de fair' un ami".

English translation So this is what Alix tells Colette: "The girl that takes an irksome husband Will always be heartbroken, And would rather sleep by herself".
