English text
Gently the breeze is sighing,
And gently the zephyr sings,
Bringing perfume the sweetest,
Upon its viewless wings,
Softly the wind harp’s cadence
Still lingers around our homes;
Welcome its silvery music,
Oh, welcome whene’er it comes.
Softly, oh, softly breathing,
Its melody seems to be,
Stronger the cadence swells
And louder it comes to me;
Oh, gently the breeze is sighing,
Its melody lingers near,
While softly and sweetly breathing,
A whisper is all we hear.
Sighing, oh gentle zephyr,
Thus telling a mournful tale,
Stirring the slumbering memory,
Perhaps a wound unveil,
Voices of those departed
Are echoing in my soul,
Singing of joy and gladness
As onward the ages roll.
