    Then why should we complain?
Since night brings round the merry song
    And merrier refrain;
        All joining,
        Combining
    To dry the passing tear—
Ah! Winter is a pleasant time
    And brings the best o’ cheer.

Then, give me jovial Winter, boys,
    And warm souls all around,
To share the rich and tranquil joys
    That in its region are found.
