Latin text Hic est praecursor dilectus et lucerna lucens ante Dominum. Ipse enim est Ioannes qui viam Domino praeparavit in eremo. Sed et Agnum Dei demonstravit et illuminavit mentes hominum.

German translation Dies ist der geliebte Vorläufer, eine helle Leuchte vor dem Herrn, er nämlich ist Johannes, der dem Herrn den Weg bereitete in der Wüste, aber auch auf das Lamm Gottes hinwies, und den Geist der Menschen erleuchtete. Translation by Gerhard Weydt
