Its repertoire is believed to be largely contained in three manuscript "great books" of the mid-thirteenth century:
- F (I-Fl Pluteo 29.1, Biblioteca Medicea-Laurenziana, Florence, of French origin with 1,023 compositions)
- W1 (Wolfenbüttel Cod. Guelf. 628, believed to originate from Saint Andrews, Scotland)
- W2 (Wolfenbüttel Cod. Guelf. 1099, of French origin)
