English text
Now cowslips and primroses deck the gay grove,
And linnets and nightingales warble their love.
No longer my Phœbe in secret remain,
But haste from retirement and meet your fond swain.
Enjoy the glad season e'er tempest appear;
Gay summer invites and your Colin is here.
No longer withhold the blest transport I crave;
For should you deny me, the river's my grave.
Come then, my dear Phœbe, in secret remain;
But haste from retirement and meet your fond swain.
The shepherds are met, each his nymph by his side,
The priest too is ready to make you my bride.
