English text
O why should sighs escape us
When parting hours chime?
We part not, love, for ever,
'Tis only for a time.
Though far away I wander
Upon the wide blue sea,
In song thine image ever
Shall present be to me.
The flowers that I may gather
On mountain or in dell,
The bosom they were culled for
Their odours sweet shall tell.
