Original text and translations

French.png French text

'Perrette,' disait Jean,
'Votre amitie me point:
Otez moi de l'ahan,
Qui me tient en ce point.'
Perrette alors, le joint,
Disant en basse voix:
'Jean, ne te hâte point:
Mon mari est au bois.'

Dutch.png Dutch translation

'Perrette,' sprak Jan,
'je ligt me nauw aan 't hart,
we moesten dus maar aan de slag
want 't is dat wat me verwart.'
'Ach Jan,' sprak zij
toen zacht,
'mijn man is in dat bos daarginds,
we hebben héél de nacht.'

English.png English translation

"Iain's saying: "Perrette,
your fondness is giving me grief;
relieve me of the ache
that keeps me like that".
So Perrette's clasping him
and, sotto voce, she's like:
"Take your time, Iain,
The old man is in the woods".
