German text Primas quidam venit ad Iesum et adoravit eum, dicens: filia mea modo defuncta est, sed veni et impone manum tuam super illam, ac vivet. Et surgens Iesus secutus est eum, ac discipuli eius. Et cum venisset Iesus in aedes primatis, videns tibicines et turbam tumultantem, dicebat illis: Secedite, non enim mortua est adolescenula, sed dormit. Et introgressus tenuit manum illius, et surrexit adolescentula.

German translation Ein Vorsteher kam zu Jesus und fiel vor ihm nieder und sprach: Meine Tochter ist eben gestorben, aber komm und lege deine Hand auf sie, so wird sie lebendig. Und Jesus stand auf und folgte ihm mit seinen Jüngern. Und als Jesus in das Haus des Vorstehers kam und sah die Flötenspieler und das Getümmel des Volks, sprach er zu ihnen: Geht hinaus! Denn das Mädchen ist nicht tot, sondern es schläft. Und er ging hinein und ergriff es bei der Hand. Da stand das Mädchen auf.

English translation A ruler came to Jesus and knelt before him, saying, "My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live." And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. And when Jesus came to the ruler's house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd making a tumult, he said to them: "Depart; for the girl is not dead but sleeping." And he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.
