Latin text Quam pulchra es et quam decora, carissima, in deliciis! Statura tua assimilata est palmae et ubera tua botris. Dixi: ascendam in palmam et apprehendam fructus eius; Et erunt ubera tua sicut botri vineae, et odor oris tui sicut malorum. Guttur tuum sicut vinum optimum, dignum dilecto meo ad potandum, Labiisque et dentibus illius ad ruminandum.

English translation How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights! This thy stature is like to a palm tree, and thy breasts to cluster the grapes. I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof; now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples; And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak.

German translation Wie schön und wie lieblich bist du, du Liebe voller Wonne! Dein Wuchs ist hoch wie ein Palmbaum, und deine Brüste gleich den Weintrauben. Ich sprach: Ich muß auf den Palmbaum steigen, und seine Zweige ergreifen. Laß deine Brüste sein wie Trauben am Weinstock und deiner Nase Duft wie Äpfel, Und deinen Gaumen wie guter Wein, der meinem Freunde glatt eingeht, und der Schläfer Lippen Reden macht.

Italian translation Quanto sei bella e quanto leggiadra, o amore, fra le delizie! La tua statura somiglia a una palma e ai suoi grappoli le tue mammelle. Io dico: Voglio salire sulla palma, reccoglierne i grappoli. Le tue mammelle siano frutti per me, il tuo alito come profumo di melagrane, il tuo palato come vino squisito che scende soave sulla mia bocca e scivola sulle labbra e sui denti.
