The editor marks the last 5 bars in the tenor in the 1612 print as only "plausible" on account of the ending tenor line having a different rhythm in the last two bars. This, however, is not unusual in motets of the period; the larger problem is the G in m. 56 (on "-tam") which clashes with the rest of the harmony. So there is every reason to believe that part as given in the 1612 print is correct. This is also the reading sung by the Tudor Consort in their recording on Naxos, who are presumably using the critical edition by John Steele. Rich enough (talk) 05:04, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
Error in Richard Mix score: Cantus (highest voice), mm. 38-39: "dedit benedi-" should read G F E F E Rich enough (talk) 04:31, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- I have to agree; working backwards in transcribing has its pitfalls. ANd thanks for the other catch too! Richard Mix (talk) 20:42, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
