French text (modernized) Tant de beauté n'a elle pas, Aumoins pour en faire une Helaine; Mais a bien dont l'on fait grand cas, Et si n'en est point plus hautaine, Elle est douce, elle est tant humaine; Elle a tants bons partis en soi Brief, m'amie a je ne sais quoi, Que je ne vois point a nul autre Dont chacun se met en émoi Pour lui dire que je sois vôtre.

English translation She has no great beauty, at least not enough to make her a Helen, but she has merits that are highly valued and, while she is not haughtier, she is gentle, and very understanding; she has so many good points. In short, my girlfriend has that certain something that I don't see at all in anyone else; which is why each and every one is stirred to say that "I might be thine".
