- Edition notes: The original order of staves is 2nd - 1st - [Bass] in the symphonies, and Tenor - [Alto] - Treble - [Bass] - [Instrumental Bass] in sung sections.
- The second instrumental part is given on the tenor stave in the source in bars 8-17 and 37-41, but has been given on the alto part in this edition.
- The alto and tenor parts are printed in the treble clef an octave above sounding pitch in the source. The soprano B and C♯ in bar 28, given here as two quavers, are printed in the source as a full-sized crotchet B followed by a small quaver grace note C♯.
- The second word of verse 2, line 4, is given as 'instructions' in the source, and has been changed here to 'instruction': the word 'Or' in verse 3, line 2 is printed as 'On' in the source. The first verse only of the text is underlaid in the source, with the three subsequent verses printed after the music.
- The first time bar has been added editorially, to accommodate the repeat back to partway through bar 25 which is shown by the use of segno markings in the source.
