Edition notes: The alto part is printed in the alto clef in the source. Only the first verse of the text is given in the source, although the three other verses to be sung are specified in the heading of the piece. The suggested underlaying of these three verses in the present edition is editorial. The two treble-range instrumental parts in the Interlude are both printed on the same treble-clef staff in the source, the first part with tails up and the second with tails down: they have here been split out onto separate staves. The solo voice parts in bars 9-17 are successively marked 'Counter Solo', 'Treble Solo', 'Tenor Solo' and 'Bass Solo' in the source: the indication 'Chorus' is given over the second half of bar 17.
