English text
When through the night the stars shine sweet and holy,
I dream of a love divine,
A love that came to earth so meek and lowly
That none could its depths define.
The weary world to sin was lost,
Its heart was sore and tempest tossed,
He brought a hope to shine.
I seem to hear Him say in accents tender,
"Oh come unto me, to me and rest,"
And see His smile shine out in radiant splendor,
And comfort the word distressed.
For from its heart was roll'd away
The burden and the cares of day,
And peace lay on its breast.
When through the night the stars shine sweet and holy,
I dream of a love divine,
A love that came to earth so meek and lowly
That none could its depths define.
Love divine, Amen.
