We part again with cheery, smiling faces,
While in our hearts the sad refrain we sing;
We ne’er may meet again in pleasant places,
And ne’er again our parting praises bring.

A kind good-night we give to all at parting,
Your motto may it ever be the right;
Goodnight, and if the parting be forever,
We give to all a long farewell: Good-night.

We part again, but not with heartless strangers,
But grasp the hand as we have done before;
We pray that each be guarded from all dangers,
Who hear our last goodnight song o’er and o’er.

Good-night, good-night, until again we meet you,
Our golden watchword ever keep in sight;
And if we ne’er again may hope to greet you,
Then must we meet to say no more: good-night.
