普天下當向耶和華歡呼, 你們當樂意事奉耶和華, 當來向祂歌唱。一 詩100 : 1一2
Shout out to the LORD, all the earth, serve the LORD with gladness, come and sing to him. Psalm 100:1-2
Liu, was born in Changde County, Hunan Province, on November 16. He graduated from Nanjing National Conservatory of Music, majoring in music theory and composition, has composed folk songs and folk songs. There are many art songs.
After believing in the Lord in 1976, he rewrote hymns and orchestral hymns to praise the Lord and glorify the name of the Lord, joining a choir where he served for more than 20 years. He always had the philosophy of "giving the best to the Lord" to encourage both himself and his brothers and sisters. He served earnestly and was full of energy in relying on the Lord. From 1976 to 1992, he served as the choir director of the New York Church for the Lord in New York; from 1992 to 1994, he was the conductor of the choir of the Twin Cities Chinese Church in Minnesota; He settled in the Bay Area in 1995, served as the choir director of the Christian congregation in Mountain View. In the winter of 1999, after conducting "Messiah Divine Comedy", due to the compression of the cervical spine and Parkinson's disease, his hands and feet gradually became immobile, which prevented his service with the choir. Even with limited mobility, he continued to serve to the end with a willingness to "go all out" but also a recognition that it must be what God allows: All things work together for good for those who love God.
Thanks to the Lord for His great grace, and thanks to the advice and encouragement of Sister Jinyue in the synagogue and the brothers and sisters in the choir, who began to collect the hymns written by Kerr. Lao Xiaobai, sister Jinyue made digital transcriptions of his manuscripts. Sister Li Yanping, sister Zhang Baofang and her daughter-in-law Jihong assisted in the editorial work. To celebrate Kerr's 80th birthday this collection has been compiled to thank our Lord for his goodness, and also sincerely thank everyone for their love in the Lord.
It is with gratitude and adoration that I (and on behalf of Kerr) dedicate this collection of hymns to our Triune God, our beloved children and grandchildren, and our brothers and sisters in the Lord.
8. Rooted and Built Up in Him – 生根建造
The theme song for the 1992 Chinese Catholic Church Summer Camp
Words: Excerpts from Colossians
1992,03,31
As we have accepted Jesus as Lord,
Walk in him according to his word,
Take root, be built up, be strong in faith
Be firmly rooted in him.
The word of the Lord written on the heart.
The word of the Lord to guide in life.
Follow the teachings of the Lord, obey the will of the Lord,
Please the Lord's heart, the Lord's heart.
As we have accepted Jesus as Lord,
Walk in him according to his word,
Take root, be built up, be strong in faith
To grow before him.
This is the will of God, now vow, You'll love her as Christ loves you;
Wives be subject to your lord;
Respect, cherish, endure, believe;
grow old as one, love for life long.
Swear before God, solemnly vow, I'll love her as Christ loves me;
Swear before God, solemnly vow, I'll love her as Christ loves me;
Swear before God, I'll love her as Christ loves me;
All: Wives be subject to your lord.
All: Respect, cherish, endure, believe;
grow old as one, love for life long.
