English text
Winter grim, with solemn face,
Moves along with halting pace,
Chilling with his icy breath,
Shrouding earth as if by death.
Rustling boughs of mourning trees
Bend before the piercing breeze;
Nature pines for coming Spring,
Oh! for bright and glorious Spring!
Snowdrops white and sweet bluebell
Peep out from each mossy dell,
Waiting till the sun’s warm ray
Ends old Winter’s dreary sway.
When at last fair Spring appears,
Shouts of welcome greet her ears,
Peasants join in roundelay,
Songbirds trill from break of day.
All unite in praise of Spring,
Hail the bright and glorious Spring!
