English text
When sinks the sun adown the west,
And marks the hour of earth’s repose,
Calmly the spirit sinks to rest,
In slumbers soft the eye-lids close.
And when our little day is done,
When night’s dark shadows ’round us creep,
May we whose earthly race is run,
Like wearied children, fall asleep.
