Edition notes: A semidiplomatoric edition: note-values are retained. Even though the settings are notated in chiavetti no transposition is made. Ficta alternations are kept to a bare minimum.

This edition is for printing the scores for both choirs together. The missing odd verses are added set to the fifth tone psalm formula from Vincenzo Lusitano: "Introdutione Facilissima...", Roma 1580.

Description: The setting is of the even verses of the Magnificat and the odd verses are evidently intended to be sung to the apropriate psalm-tone. (These parts are not included in the original print.) Of the sections thus set, six in all, five (1-4,6) are set for two SATB choirs. The fifth part, "Sicut locutus est" is set for six voices SSAATB distributed in the original part-books so that the first sopranos, first altos and tenor parts are printed in the Cantus, altus and tenor part-books for the first choir. The second sopranos, altos and the bass are printed in the part-books for the second choir Cantus, altus and bassus.
