Edition notes: The alto part is printed in the source in the treble clef, an octave above sounding pitch. The first verse and chorus only are underlaid in the source, with subsequent verses printed after the music: these have been underlaid editorially. The soprano G on beat 1 of bar 2, and the alto B and tenor G# on beat 1 of bar 23, are all printed as small crotchet grace notes in the source, and have here been written out in full. The initial upbeat bar is blank (without either notes or rests) in the instrumental bass part: a crotchet D, doubling the vocal bass, has been added editorially in the present edition.

A saviour's born today.
Then let us all unite our voice,
And sweet hosannas sing;
In God our saviour all rejoice,
The new-born heav'nly King.

Born of a spotless maid;
