Biography

Charles Lauren Moore was born in Wheeling, Indiana. He and his brothers attended numerous singing schools throughout the region in their youth. He was conducted singing schools and travelled with the Leslie Concert Company as tenor soloist. He taught in the public schools of Winchester, Indiana; Marion, Ohio; Champaign, Illinois; and towns around the Champaign area. He composed hymns and songs for schools. With his brothers Addison, William, Marcellus, all music teachers, he wrote the music book The Regulus and wrote the collection Musical Gems with his brother Marcellus.
