1. Donne, il somm’e celeste Re preghiamo
1. Che mondi l’alma da mortal diffetti.
2. Ecco noi pronte siamo
2. Con puri e ardent’affetti.
Rettor del ciel, alta cagion superna,
Perdona i falli nostri,
Onde godiam’al fin gli eterni chiostri.
2. Preghiam ancor Maria, vergin eterna..
1. Degno pensier v’induce:
1. Sendo del ciel Regina e nostra duce,
Genitrice di Dio, vergin’eletta,
L’alma ch’in se contrita
A te per tua pietà dimand’aita.

eterni chiostri means cielo,
sendere is an old variant of scendere

English.png English translation

1. Ladies, the utmost and heavenly king we beg,
1. that he may clean the soul of mortal defects.
2. We are ready
2. with pure and eager affections.
Ruler of heaven, utmost reason,
forgive our error,
that we may at last enjoy the eternal realms.
2. We also pray to Mary, eternal virgin.
1. A worthy notion guides you:
1. queen descended from heaven, and our guide,
mother of God, elected virgin,
the soul that in itself is crushed,
asks for help by your pity.

eternal realms: "gli eterni chiostri" is a periphrasis for "heaven".
