Felice schiera di bei spirti eletti,
A gran danno del tempo hoggi raccolta,
Ben si convien per voi ch’el mond’aspetti
Che la palma al nemico homai fia tolta,
Et che l’invidia con sommessi effetti
Ceda et si rend’a voi più d’una volta,
Poi che lo scudo di costantia havete,
Et sol con l’armi di virtù vincete.

Glückliche Schar schöner erlesener Geister,
leider, leider heute vereint,
wohl geziemt es euch, dass die Welt erwartet,
dass die Hand dem Feind nun gereicht werde,
und dass der Neid mit untertänigem Gehorsam
zurückweiche und sich euch mehrfach ergebe,
da ihr den Schutz der Standfestigkeit habt
und nur mit den Waffen der Tugend siegt.

it seems appropriate that the world aspects
that the palm should be stretched out to the enemy,
