German text Fröhlich zu sein in Ehren bei gutem kühlen Wein, dies soll mir niemand wehren, denn man sagt ingemein, dass guter Mut sei halber Leib, drum ich all’s Trauren von mir treib. Der edel Weine gut erfrischet mir das Blut, erquickt mich auch im Herzen, dass ich kann fröhlich scherzen aus frischem, freien Mut.

English translation To be merry honourably with a good fresh wine, no one may deny me, for it is said commonly, that being of good cheer is half of life, hence I stay away from all grievance. The good noble wine refreshes my blood, revitalizes me in my heart, such that I can frolic merrily with a fresh and free mind. Translation by Gerhard Weydt
