Latin text Hymnum cantate nobis de canticis Syon. Alleluia. Quomodo cantabimus canticum Domini in terra aliena. Alleluia. Septuaginta annis super flumina Babilonis sedimus et flevimus dum recordaremur Syon ibi suspendimus organa nostra. Alleluia.

English translation Sing us one of the songs of Sion. Alleluia. How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land? Alleluia. For seventy years, we sat down and wept by the waters of Babylon, When we remembered thee, O Sion, where we hanged up our harps. Alleluia.
