Italian text Io vorrei pur morir, così mi preme La lontananza ria De la speranza mia. Ma rimembrando il giorno Del suo dolce ritorno, Fuggo poi quel morir che pur desio. Deh, torna hormai, cor mio, Che non puo soffrire Il non poter ne viver ne morire. Guarini?

English translation I would even like to die, so oppressed am I by the evil absence of my hope. But remembering the day of her(his) sweet return, I flee then the death that in fact I desire.
